Sampling strategies based on sets of behavioural parameters. Application to a simple pesticide fate model

چکیده
Sampling strategies are necessary to minimise the cost of data acquisition. We consider the case when several samples must be analysed at the same time, knowing rainfall data, optionally discharge data. We assume also that a rainfall-runoff and pesticide transfer model is available. Three methods are presented based on behavioural sets calculated on prior events, which provide optimal sampling times with respect to different statistical criteria, for a fixed number of samples. A methodology to compare these strategies, adapted to a context of data scarcity is proposed for proper validation. We consider that the combination of a model and a strategy is efficient if it does better than a strategy without a model based on equal volumes. Even with a simple and relatively poor model, it can be concluded that the different strategies are efficient and show similar efficiency in spite of their different levels of conceptual and algorithmic complexity.

Uncertainty in the river export modelling of pesticides and transformation products
The modelling of organic pollutants in the environment is burdened by numerous uncertainties. Not only parameter values are uncertain but often also the mass and timing of pesticide application. By introducing transformation products (TPs) into modelling, further uncertainty, coming from the dependence of these substances on their parent compounds and the introduction of new model parameters, i...
متن کاملModeling macropore flow effects on pesticide leaching: inverse parameter estimation using microlysimeters.
Macropore flow is a key factor determining pesticide fate, but models accounting for this process need parameters that cannot be easily measured. This study was conducted to investigate the use of inverse techniques to estimate parameters controlling macropore flow and pesticide fate in the dual-permeability model MACRO. Undisturbed columns were sampled at three landscape positions (hilltop, sl...

متن کاملA robust least squares fuzzy regression model based on kernel function
In this paper, a new approach is presented to fit arobust fuzzy regression model based on some fuzzy quantities. Inthis approach, we first introduce a new distance between two fuzzynumbers using the kernel function, and then, based on the leastsquares method, the parameters of fuzzy regression model isestimated. The proposed approach has a suitable performance to<b...
متن کاملApplication of Satellite Data and Data Mining Algorithms in Estimating Coverage Percent (Case study: Nadoushan Rangelands, Ardakan Plain, Yazd, Iran)
Assessing and monitoring rangelands in arid regions are important and essential tasks in order to manage the desired regions. Nowadays, satellite images are used as an approximately economical and fast way to study the vegetation in a variety of scales. This research aims to estimate the coverage percent using the digital data given by ETM+ Landsat satellite. In late May and early Ju...
